Just as actors have SAG-AFTRA and directors have their own guild, the crew members who build sets, run cameras, and handle lighting have their own union too: the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, almost always shortened to IATSE.
IATSE represents Below the Line crew across film and television, negotiating their minimum pay, working conditions, and Residuals, much like the guilds do for on screen talent and writers.

- IATSE is one of the largest entertainment unions, covering a huge range of below the line jobs, from camera operators to costume makers to set builders.
- Without IATSE's crew members, none of the technical work behind a movie, like lighting, sound, and set construction, would actually get done.
